Mission.

As an educator it is essential for me to keep students engaged during lesson time, ensure we learn something new each lesson and have fun while doing it. Instilling good practice habits, regardless of the type of lesson, helps students build lifelong skill applicable outside the practice room. Whether teaching voice, piano or guitar I am dedicated to helping students find their true 'musical voice' through solid fundamentals, good practice habits, exposure to a variety of musical styles and exploration through improvisation. All lessons train technique in addition to focus and discipline.

Voice

Explore a combination of 'bel canto' and modern pop technique. Learn the anatomy and physiology of the vocal instrument and develop an individually tailored singing routine. Some topics covered include, but not limited to:

Breath and Support
Register and Vocal Range
Intonation and Pitch Recognition
Resonance and Tonal/Timbral Coloring
Performance Technique
Singing Psychology and Meditation

Find your voice through the music you enjoy and love to sing. Develop a well rounded repertoire with additional styles including Classical, Opera, Jazz, Rock and Pop.

Piano

Build a strong connection with the piano through a mix of written and by rote content. Whether a seasoned player or complete beginner find freedom through unique exercises and improvisation. Topics include:

Harmonic Foundations, Scales, Triads and Clusters
Melodicism and Intervals
Ear Training
Drop Chords and Voicing Construction
Rhythm and Hand Independence
Reading and Writing in Standard Notation
Improvisation and Jazz Theory/Chord Structures
Composition and Theory

Enjoy a full spectrum piano experience through method study, dissecting pop tunes, studying Jazz and Classical standards and learning to play by ear. Gain the skills to communicate and play with other musicians as well as structure and maintain a personal regimen.

Guitar/Bass

Learn the fretboard like never before. Find freedom and effortlessness through a focus on strong technique and a relaxed execution. Acoustic, Electric and Bass lessons available. Topics include:

Alignment and Balance
Fretboard Mapping and Recognition
Open Chords, Barre Chords and Drop Voicings
Triads, Seventh Chords and Shell Voicings
Pentatonic, Major/Minor and Altered Scales
Rhythm and Strumming Technique
Picking and Fingerstyle
Lead Playing/Solo Construction
Voicing Leading and Chord Melodies
Pedals, Amps, Guitar and Gear Maintenance

Improve your playing with a solid foundation in the Blues, Jazz and Classical styles in addition to Pop from all ages including: Modern, Classic Rock, Disco, Country, Folk and Soul.
